Cards, Cards, Cards

It's another snow day here on Vancouver island. I believe they said another 20-25cm accumlated overnight. It's not snowing today, but it sure is dark & gloomy out there. I'm nearly done my Christmas cards (like to get them outta the way & in the mailbox on December 1st) but I did need to make a birthday card. Due to the gloomy darkness outside, I decided to pull out my bold brights and create something with COLOR. I do believe I accomplished this with Only Orange, Pink Passion, Green Galore and the Air Art Tool using Tempting Turquoise marker!! I layed a window sheet over top and stamped my happy birthday greeting with Black StazOn (my white one is on order! It looks very cool on window sheets!) Have you tried stamping on window sheets? A good weekend challenge for you if you haven't.
This is one of our favorite parks. My hubby got up this morning and went to take this photo for me. I thought it turned out very cool. I have the same photo in the fall, now winter -- do you SEE a scrapbook page forming :-) Just have to wait for Spring & Summer!
The kids are hoping to put the tree up this weekend. A little early for us, but with all this snow everyone is feeling festive -- bring on the egg nog!! Enjoy your last day in November -- it's nearly time to change our calendars (something my littlest one is constantly asking me about -- poor thing thinks once that happens it's Christmas.)
Thanks to everyone who has commented on my blog!! What fun this is becoming & I love to hear your feedback.

Snowflurries

Do you ever get a Christmas Card in the mail and think "OOPS! I didn't mail them a card this year?". At this moment you have a few choices:

(a) Sing a Christmas tune and place the card on a shelf

(b) Write their name down for next year's list

(c) Scramble to your stampin' room and make them a card as fast as you can and pop it in the mail in hopes it makes it there BEFORE Christmas!!

Well, if you're anything like me (c) is the only option. And.. this is the perfect card. I was inspired by a card on one the best stampin' sites out there www.splitcoaststampers.com and tried it out. Very quick and easy which is perfect when you're in a rush.

I took Whisper White Cardstock (been enjoying the clean slate of white!) and punch 3 circles using the 3/4" circle punch. I just found the center of the card and punched out that circle and then marked an inch on either side and punched those ones out. Once it was all punched out, I used my Buckaroo Blue, Cranberry Crisp & Always Artichoke Classic Pads and stamped through the punches with my favorite stamp set at this moment - SNOWFLURRIES. It retires in two days -- but it's one I'll keep using. I actually used it for my own Christmas Cards. A little jingle on the end with Perfect Endings and voila - done! Bet you could make this card in 3 minutes flat. I'm thinking this card could easily be done with Little Pieces out of the main catalog and warm words.....

Christmas is in the air

BRRRR!!! The snow has been falling all day again today. It looks so pretty and I can't help but feel the tug at getting my Christmas cards stamped & ready to go. Last month I sent out a sheet to my stampers to try out the Christmas Tree Origami Card. I didn't have any of the Holiday Thyme Stampin' Up! designer paper (which is now on order), but a member of my downline Margaret Page (an INCREDIBLE stamper & scrapbooker!!) made me this beautiful card that I just had to share with you. Although these cards take some time to make, they look so good! I can't believe we're almost through with the holiday mini catalog. I love so many stamp sets in there. Margaret used perfect endings on her tag at the top and sponged it to give it such a soft effect.
I'm trying to upload a few QUICK Christmas Cards too before the mini runs out. My fav for this mini was snowflurries -- a must have! So keep on the look-out, as soon as I can get to it, I'll upload a really quick Christmas card!

November 28, 2006

My first post on my blog! EEK. I really have no idea what I'm doing, but that's how I tend to do things. Just jump in, hope for the best & go through a series of trials and errors! Bear with me while I get set up & organized.

A snow storm has hit us early this year (we typically don't see snow until the end of December or early January), so end of November is a huge hit with the kids. Even had a snow day yesterday. They were sure disappointed to have to get up and go to school this morning. Although, having the #1 dad, they were back on those sledding slopes early in the morning to get some good long runs in BEFORE school! Awww -- what a Dad!! Our littlest wasn't feeling so well, so Mommy stayed home with her :)

I hope to share with you some stamping ideas & chatter along the way. Watch out - SAHM (Stay At Home Moms) are always starving for conversation!! :)
